Before you come
How old do you need to be?
Hire karts: 10 and over, and at least 150 cm tall so you can reach the pedals safely. Race karts and enduros: 15 and over. Friday Night League juniors are 10 to 16.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes, 120 kg maximum in both the hire karts and the race karts.
Do I need any experience?
None for Arrive & Drive or a party. Everyone watches our safety video and gets a briefing before their first session, and we can turn the karts down for nervous first-timers. The race karts and enduros need hire kart experience first.
How much does it cost?
Arrive & Drive starts at $99 for two 10-minute sessions. Book online and three sessions are also $99 with our best of three deal. First-timers add the $15 annual membership, plus a $6 balaclava if you’re using our helmets. Sundays, public holidays and December bookings carry a 10% surcharge.
What’s the annual membership?
Every Arrive & Drive driver becomes a Wollongong Karts member. It’s $15, lasts 12 months and comes with a quick indemnity form. After that you just book and drive. Tick the membership box when you book.
Do I need a balaclava?
Yes, if you’re wearing one of our helmets. They’re $6 and yours to keep. Add one when you book or grab one at the counter. Bringing your own helmet with a visor, or your own balaclava? You’re covered.
What should I wear?
We recommend enclosed shoes and comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty. Tie back long hair and leave scarves and anything loose at home. For the race karts you’ll need your own fully enclosed shoes (thin, soft soles are best); we supply the suit, gloves and helmet.
How long should we allow?
About 90 minutes for a three-session visit, including sign-in and the safety briefing. On weekends, public holidays, school holidays and in the lead-up to Christmas, allow extra time.
Can friends and family watch?
Absolutely. There’s plenty of room to watch from trackside, and plenty of parking.
What if my kid is too short to drive?
Book the double kart: an adult (150 cm or taller) drives and a child rides along. It’s $100 for 10 minutes, and extra sessions are $45 each.
The karts and the track
How fast do the karts go?
Our hire karts have no speed limiter and top out around 67 km/h, which feels a lot faster sitting a few centimetres off the ground. By law, hire karts can’t exceed 75 km/h. The 2-stroke race karts are quicker again.
Do the karts have governors?
No. Our hire karts run ungoverned, so there’s nothing cutting the power when you’re lining up a pass on the straight.
Can you slow the karts down for beginners?
Yes. We can turn the karts down so first-timers can build confidence before they unleash their inner Oscar Piastri.
What karts do you use?
French-built Sodi 270cc four-stroke hire karts, run ungoverned. For the Race Kart Challenge and the Ferrari Grand Prix, 2-stroke race karts with Yamaha engines that rev to 15,000 rpm, in race chassis that weigh about 70 kg.
How do the race karts work?
You qualify first. Book a Race Kart Challenge package and you start with two 10-minute hire kart sessions while our staff watch your driving. Once you’re approved, you step up to the race kart. Don’t qualify, and the unused race kart value comes back as hire kart vouchers. More on the Race Kart Challenge.
Is the track indoor or outdoor?
Outdoor, on real bitumen. Real wind, real sun, and when it rains you might get real wet.
Bookings, weather and policies
Do I need to book?
We strongly recommend it. On weekends, public holidays, school holidays and before Christmas, paid bookings get their time slot first. Walk-ins and unpaid phone bookings can wait a long time or be pushed back.
What happens if it rains?
We race in the wet. A bit of drizzle just makes it a different track. If conditions become unsafe, we move your booking to another available date. Bookings aren’t refunded because of weather.
Can I get a refund?
Bookings are non-refundable. If we close the track for safety, we’ll happily rebook you. If a refund is ever agreed, a 15% administration fee applies. Full details are in our booking terms.
Are there any surcharges?
Arrive & Drive and party packages carry a 10% surcharge on Sundays, public holidays and in December. Corporate Grand Prix packages carry 10% in December.
How do we make sure our group races together?
Book everyone in one transaction to guarantee the same session time. Want the track to yourselves? Choose a party package.
What if our session runs late?
On busy days, something unexpected can push sessions back, so allow extra time. Delays aren’t refunded, but we can issue a credit voucher for a future visit.
Can we have a drink before we race?
No. Alcohol before or during karting is strictly forbidden. Breaches mean on-the-spot cancellation, cancellation of your annual licence and a track ban. Save it for after.

Where are you?
9-11 West Dapto Road, Kembla Grange NSW 2526. About 15 minutes from Wollongong CBD and around 90 minutes from Sydney via the M1. Get directions.
Is there parking?
Yes, plenty of on-site parking. Heads up: the entrance is via a service road through an industrial area. Keep going, you’re in the right place.
When are you open?
Mon to Wed: Closed. Thursday: 12pm to 7pm. Fri to Sun: 10am to 7pm. NSW school holidays: Open 7 days, 10am to 7pm. Live session times show when you book online.
